Job Description for Aardwolf Teams. Managers, Team Coachs's and Team Captains.

These Positions have been created to improve the experience of participating in an Aardwolfs Team, and to encourage good team Management, Coaching and Captaining practices.

It is the Team Managers job to communicate with the team prior to the event, to get the players/team  to the game or function, to control the team funds and liaise with the Aardwolfs Club Committee on Club matters.

The Coach takes control of the team on the bench and in preparation for the game: the Captain is responsible when the team are on the ice. The Manager, Coach and Captain represent the team when the Team participates in any event as a Team.

These positions are recommended by the Team or the Aardwolfs Club Committee, and either Elected or Appointed by the Team; each Team shall decide how the Manager/s, Coach/s and the Team Captain are decided for that Team. While it is recommended that each of the above positions is held by different people to spread the work load, any person may hold two or all of the above positions.

The OBJECTIVE of the AARDWOLFS ICE HOCKEY CLUB is to:

·         Encourage its members to participate in playing Ice Hockey.

·         Improve Ice Hockey skills on an Individual and Team basis.

·         Do this in a safe and controlled environment.

The Benefits of Managing, Caching or Captaining an Aardwolfs Ice Hockey Team.

·An inside view of a growing sport at the grass roots level.
·Membership and Participation in the Aardwolfs Ice Hockey Club and access to their varied and fun social and club activities.
·Involvement in the exciting atmosphere and the Team dynamics of an Aardwolfs Ice Hockey Team


Manager, Coach and Captain Support.

The Aardwolfs: Club Captain, Club Committee, and other Team Managers, Coaches and Captains will be available at all times for support and will be readily available to fill in should it become necessary. They are also a good source information and ideas

Teams Managers.

The Objective of the Aardwolfs Team Manager:

·         To encourage the Team members to participate in playing Ice Hockey.

·         To do this in a safe and controlled environment.

Method: The Team Manager’s job may include use of the following:

  • Txting/phoning and/or emailing all Team players on a weekly basis to remind them of playing/practicing times.

  • Ensuring that a Team List giving details of all players shirt Number’s and Name’s, the Goalie, the Captain, Assistant Captains, and all game fees, are given to the Score Bench before the start of each game.

  • Collecting Team Funds and keeping the Players informed of their financial commitments. This includes SNC Registration, current and upcoming game fees. As the Team Manager is held responsible for Team Funds once collected, it is recommended that a maximum of $300 is held in cash and cheques at any one time and that these funds should be deposited as soon as practical with the Aardwolfs Club Treasurer.

  • Working with the Aardwolfs Club Treasurer to keep a current record of the Teams Financial Records

  • To foster a positive team spirit that encourages fun and full participation in each game.

  • Teaching, praising and practicing good sportsmanship skills.

  • To arrange a game report for each game to be sent to the Club Publicity Officer.

  • Attending as many games as practical, but a minimum of 50% of the Teams Games

Team Coach.

The Objective of the Aardwolfs Team Coach:

·        To encourage the Team members to participate in playing Ice Hockey.

·         To improve the Aardwolfs Team performance and the individual Aardwolfs player’s skills.

Method: The Coach’s job may include use of the following:

  • Coaching the players during games and practices using positive reinforcement to encourage and improve individual and team performance.

  • Deciding on starting and playing Lines.

  • Working with the Team Manager and Team Captain to ensure Team Numbers are sufficient for each Game.

  • Deciding in conjunction with the Team Captain any strategy or Game Plan for the Game/Season.

  • To foster a positive team spirit that encourages fun and full participation in each game.

  • Teaching, praising and practicing good sportsmanship skills.

  • Attending as many games as practical, but a minimum of 50% of the Teams Games

Team Captains.

The Objective of the Aardwolfs Team Captain:

·         To encourage the Team members to participate in playing Ice Hockey.

·         To improve the Aardwolfs Team performance and the individual Aardwolfs player’s skills.

·         To as far as practical ensure that the Team plays in a sportsmanlike manner while on the ice.

Method: The Team Captain’s job may include use of the following:

  • To help coach the players during games and practices using positive reinforcement to encourage and improve individual and team performance.

  • Working with the Team Manager and Team Coach to ensure Team Numbers are sufficient for each Game.

  • Deciding in conjunction with the Team Coach any strategy or Game Plan for the Game/Season.

  • To foster a positive team spirit that encourages fun and full participation in each game.

  • Teaching, praising and practicing good sportsmanship skills.
