the shots. Goal number two for the Aardwolfs came with just seconds left on

The Phantoms are usually a bit argy bargy to play so it always makes the game interesting. The Aardwolfs came out in full force with all players present as did the Phantoms and the game was on. It was pretty even in the first with neither team scoring but the second period was a whole other story. Hamish, determined to make up for lost time, scores two goals and the Aardwolfs roared. The Phantoms getting frustrated, tried to upset us with their usual tactics but to no avail. Then in the few seconds of the game, Joern scores to make it 3-0 and the first win since xmas for the Aardwolfs. Awesome guys-Look out semi-finals here we come!! Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

The game against the Dragons is always a challenge and with the Aardwolfs game improving, it could have been anyone's game. The Aardwolfs were first to score with awesome passing from Hamish and Colin to Joern who made the net. But the Dragons came back to even the score in the second period with a pass to their fastest skater who broke away to score. It was all on in the third with lots of shots on the Dragon goalie by the Aardwolfs. There was a bit of yoyo hockey with passes being intercepted from both teams, things got a little rough. Then a breakaway in the last few minutes saw the Dragons score and take the lead 2-1. The Aardwolfs fought hard to even the score but could not find the back of the net. Then the Dragons passed to their fastest skater again who scored again, confirming their win 3-1. The Aardwolfs were really happy with their game, even though they didn't win they still had fun. Look out next week!!! Reported by Kushla Proffitt. |

The Aardwolfs came out fighting this week determined to get a win under their belt and some their feet. The first period was tough with both teams struggling to get the puck and all swarming on it like bees. The Aardwolfs played a clean game with no penalties but the Rangers were aggressive and it paid off with a goal to take the lead going into the second. The shots on increased for both teams as more and more breakaways were had, but only the Rangers found the back of the net, scoring two more goals and increasing their lead. The third period saw more of the same with the Aardwolfs skating hard to chase the puck only to have it taken away and then struggle back to cover leaving Scotty on his own. The Rangers were just too quick and it showed as the Aardwolfs worn out, had not answer for two more goals by the Rangers. The game went to them 5-0. Keep it up guys and girls and remember to go out there and have fun. We all go to the finals so lets enjoy ourselves. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

The second period saw both teams fighting for possession and pouring on the shots, but none saw the back of the net. Then in the third the Phantoms came back to score and the game was on. The Aardwolfs defended well but the Phantoms score again to even the score 2-2. The Aardwolfs continued to defend their goal but the Phantoms score a lucky goal at the end to take the win 3-2. Desperate for a win the Aardwolfs, after a team talk before the game, came out with a little more confidence in themselves after loosing to the Rangers last week. The passing and skating was much improved on last week but as always the Dragons played a fast game, using their quick skaters to take the puck up the ice and set up their slower ones for a goal. The Aardwolfs fought hard but the Dragons controlled the neutral zone and soon had them skating back fast to save a goal. The Dragons had lots of shots on and took the lead in the first period. The second period was more of the same again with the Aardwolfs not able to answer either goal, leaving the Dragons in the lead 3-0 going into the third. The Aardwolfs came out hard and kept the Dragons from scoring anymore but unfortunately could make the score board themselves. The dragons winning 3-0 Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

with better passing and skating. The Rangers were 2-0 up going into the
second period, when suddenly they had a challenge on their hands as the
Aardwolfs came out fighting. They scored two goals in quick succession but
the Rangers also got two more and remained in the lead going into the third.
The Aardwolfs fought hard but the Rangers only increased their lead to take

Well the game against the Phantoms was its usual rough game
with lots of contact not called by some very average reffing, with didn't
help the players moods at all. The Phantoms were first to make the score
board with two quick goals as our ring-in goalie found his feet. Then the
game was all on with the Aardwolfs scoring the equaliser to make it 2-2 in
the second period. The third period saw the intensity increase as penalties
were not called and players struggled with each other. Then the Phantoms
take the lead and thought the game was won, but it was not to be, the
Aardwolfs drawing the game again 3-3. Both teams fought to re-take the lead
but couldn't find the back of the net, the a draw 3-3 at the end. |

A game against the Dragons is always the toughest game to play and the game we always strive to win, so it was business as usual. Both team's came out fighting, but it was the Aardwolfs who scored first and the end of the first making it 1-0 going into the second. The Dragons fought hard for the equaliser and it came mid way through the second, the game was on. Both teams struggled to take the lead but it was not to be, the game ended in yet another draw, 1-1. | First game back and we had lost Ted to the A-Grade and it showed. Well that and some had spent their holidays getting too merry and had no fitness left (me included). The Rangers looked like they had been practising their passing and played well, the Aardwolfs a little lost and couldn't quite make the back of the net. Although shots on were even at 18 each, the Rangers came away with the win 2-0. Reported by Kushla Proffitt

| Its that time of the round again with a game against the challenging Dragons. Even though they were a little short of players, they still fought till the end, making the Aardwolfs work hard. The shots on were even from both teams but the passing was stronger from the Aardwolfs who won the puck through the neutral zone and broke away to score their first goal. The second Aardwolfs goal came soon after with a beautiful pass across the net from Joern to Suzy who was in the right place at the right time, taking the Aardwolfs into the second 2-0 up. The Dragons came out hard in the second and kept the Aardwolfs from scoring, but could manage a goal themselves either. The third saw an awesome pass from DJ to Hamish who scored early on. Frustration from the Dragons shone through as their bench got vocal at both their players and the Aardwolfs bench. This did not faze the Aardwolfs who score one more goal and take the win 4-0. | The Rangers are always an intense team to play and the game was no exception. The Aardwolfs took control early on in the game and scored three goals with great team work and passing, Bruce and Suzy taking the credit, well done. The Rangers had not answer. It was all on in the second period as the Rangers score their only goal of the game and fought for another. The intensity rose and so did the pressure as the Aardwolfs poured on the shots, a total of 28 for the game. The Rangers frustration shone through with a few penalties, but they kept fighting till the end, the Aardwolfs taking the win 3-1. Reported by Kushla Proffitt | |||

| With the game already won by default cos the Phantoms didn't have enough players, the Aardwolfs were determined to made it so on paper as well by increasing their stats. Although it was a slow start, the Aardwolfs dominated the game with three goals in the first period. The speed and a full team were too much for the Phantoms who just couldn't break through the Aardwolfs defence and when they did the shots were saved by the Aardwolfs back up goalie for the night, Russel Duncan. Thanks buddy for standing in at the last minute, you were awesome. The second period saw more of the same with another two goals from the Aardwolfs and the Phantoms remaining scoreless going into the third. The Phantoms tried some desperate attacks towards the end with one Phantom taking Suzy on the boards, poor thing didn't get up in a hurray. With no penalty called and the Aardwolfs wild, they scored two more to end the game 7-0. Great team work guys and girls, awesome passing, shame about the so so reffing but without them we would have a game at all. Reported by Kushla Proffitt. | |||

Its always a challenging game against the Dragons and tonight
was no exception. You would think that with a full team that the Aardwolfs
would have dominated the game, but it was not to be. The Dragons were first
to score within seconds taking the lead early on, the Aardwolfs couldn't
find the net. The second period saw more of the same with the Dragons
playing a defensive game and the Aardwolfs getting frustrated. This
frustration and some really doggey reffing saw three of them in the penalty
box, leaving only three on the ice. But that didn't faze the Aardwolfs who
showed their great passing skills and Colin scoring the equaliser. The
Dragons in shock, tried to re-take the lead will lots of shots on but none
made it through, taking the game into the third period 1-1. It got rough from there on in, with more doggey penalties given to the Aardwolfs. The Dragons score again and take the lead 2-1. But the Aardwolfs never gave up and score the equaliser soon after. A defensive game from both teams saw this score to be the final one, a 2-2 draw. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

With only 8 players plus a Goalie, the Aardwolfs were in for a tough game.
The Rangers are always a messy team to play and with short numbers the
Aardwolfs never really made it to the net but they also never gave up. They
made the Rangers work for it and played a clean game, unlike the Rangers,
who delayed the game on purpose more than once, giving the Aardwolfs less
time to catch up. They only got penalized once as one of the Rangers
intentionally hit the puck off the ice, and I thought B-Grade was meant to
be fun not serious. The Aardwolfs fought till the end and after the first two periods of the Rangers scoring kept them getting any more in the third. Unfortunately they could not find the net themselves. Better luck next week guys and girls. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

| With the team a little short this week due to injury and work commitments, the team needed to pull it together and play a defence game against the Phantoms who play little arggy barggy game. The game was never going to be easy and with the net blocked on all angles, the only way in was a break away, which suited Ted just fine as he scores the first goal of the game. The Phantoms pour on the defence and manage to keep the Aardwolfs to only one goal in the first. The second period saw the Phantoms score first to draw the game 1-1. But the Aardwolfs quickly came back to re-take the lead 2-1 with a another break-away, this time from Joern. The Phantoms got frustrated then and it showed as they received a checking penalty. Soon after they score their second goal to tie the score again 2-2. The Aardwolfs pour on the pressure, the Phantoms for a third goal to take the lead, only to get another penalty. Then in the third the Aardwolfs re-take the lead themselves with the third breakaway of the game, Joern once again making it count. The Phantoms gave it all they had but could not catch the Aardwolfs and the game ended with a win the Aardwolfs 3-2. Awesome game guys and girls. Boy did I want to be out there playing with you. | The game we had all been waiting for was finally here. The Dragons, always a challenge to play, did not let us down and the game was on. Defensive as usual, the Dragons came out fighting but the Aardwolfs controlled the game throughout, with what was later described as amazing passing and the Dragons soon tired. In the last few minutes of the first period, Colin shots through the Dragons defence finding Big Al who made sure it went in. The Dragons fought on only to gain a penalty for interference, which we all thought wasn't but we have to play by the Ref. They soon made it up with an awesome goal of their own to even the score 1-1. But the Aardwolfs were not having that and quickly answered as Big Al strikes again, this time with an awesome pass to Joern who make 2-1.The Aardwolfs poured the shots on as their awesome passing around seemed to wear the Dragons out. Then Ange makes a beautiful shot, hitting the top post, only to then bounce out-Bugger it. The third saw the Aardwolfs maintain their lead, with a third goal thanks to an awesome pass across to Joern making it 3-1 and the win to the Aardwolfs. Reported by Kushla Proffitt | |||

With the first official game of the season at hand, the
Aardwolfs were ready to rock. The Rangers were first up, and it was all go
from the start. Joern, hungry for the puck, was first to score with a
break-away in just the first few minutes. Then Craig, our new player this
season, scores number two but unfortunately it was disallowed. Bugger, it
was a great shot. The Rangers make a come back to score a lucky goal tying
the score 1-1 going into the second period, where the fight was on as the
Rangers play a defensive game and held the Aardwolfs back. But it was not to
last as Hamish who was in town from Nelson and hanging out for a game of
hockey, so we said sure and he went and made up for time lost scoring goal
number two from a great pass received from Suzy taking the lead 2-1. The Rangers continued their defensive game and hold the Aardwolfs back but scoring no goals in the second. The third period saw Hamish score again, this time on a break-away increasing the Aardwolfs lead 3-1.And in quick succession, Bruce receives an awesome pass from Joern to make it 4-1. The Rangers poured on the heat and in the last few seconds score their second goal. But it was not enough as the Aardwolfs ran away with the win 4-2. Great first game guys and girls. With the second of two friendly games to start the season under way, the
Aardwolfs took control early on. The first goal came after a great pass from
Joern across the net to Kushla, who made a beautiful shot, which was to
start "The Attack of the Aardwolfs". Colin, showing us all how well
he's improving, scores once again off the point soon after, making it 2-0.
Then as the first period came to a close and scrabble in front of the net,
Ange scores taking the Aardwolfs to a 3-0 lead going into the second. The game remained in the Aardwolfs control as Bruce and Ted score a goal each, increasing their lead to 5-0. Then Ange took her second goal of the game on a breakaway, making it 6-0 going into the third period (Girl Power). The Aardwolfs were on fire as they poured on the shots. Congratulations to the Phantoms goalie for taking on a total of 47 shots on him for the game, especially having already played the game before, well done. Bruce scored his second goal early on in the last period taking the lead to 7-0. As the passing magic continued for the Aardwolfs, Suzy makes a great pass into Big Ali, who was ready at the post and scores. The Phantoms unable to catch them, watched in despair as the Aardwolfs score 4 more goals including a third goal for Bruce giving him a hat trick for the game to win 11-0. Here we are at the beginning of yet another season of hockey yeah!! Please
give a BIG WELCOME to our 2 new addition the B-Grade team, Emily Jarden
and Craig Armstrong-Fray, Great to have you here. The first of 2 non-competition games to start the season, went off without a hitch. With only 1 player away, the Aardwolfs came out fighting as defending champions from last season. They dominated the game from the start, although the Rangers made them work for it. The game itself was classically a messy first game with people uncoordinated, unfit and following the puck around like a swarm of bees. With only a few good skaters on their team, the Rangers only defence was to gather around the net trying to prevent the puck getting through. The Aardwolfs broke through with a bullet shot from the point from Colin that went straight through. This was all thanks to a great pass from Big Al, making the score 1-0 going into the second period. The Rangers snuck one through the Aardwolfs defence early on to even the score 1-1, but magic passing of Ted to Joern saw the Aardwolfs re-take the lead 2-1. The Rangers, getting desperate, to score got a little rough leading them to a penalty for hooking. The Aardwolfs took advantage of this with a great pass from Suzy to Bruce who scored making it 3-1 going into the third. The Rangers came out defensively in the last period but after lots of shots on (a total of 29 for the game), Craig Balfour slips one through extending the Aardwolfs lead to 4-1. The Rangers frustration shone through as one of their players being given a misconduct and leaving the game. This saw the end for the Rangers and for the game itself with the Aardwolfs wining 4-1. | After upsetting the semi's last week by knocking the top team out of the final, the Phantoms were hoping to do the same in the final and score the first goal of the game. But the Aardwolfs had other ideas although remaining scoreless at the end of period one, fought hard and kept the Phantoms from scoring more. This strength continued in the second as the Aardwolfs took control of the game, winning face offs and making awesome passes. the equalizer came early on as Ross goes it alone, then the game was really on as both teams played the game of their lives. But the Aardwolfs had the upper edge as the magic passing of Ross and Joern made it to Hamish who scores number two for the Aardwolfs to take the lead 2-1. The Phantoms answer quickly to even the score 2-2 going into the third. The intensity increased as number three for the Aardwolfs came early on with Kush, back from injury making an awesome pass back to Colin in defence, he shoots and scores. The Phantoms try to fight back but exhaustion took over and they never caught up. The Aardwolfs score one more to make sure, Hamish again on his own. They maintained control after that till the end to win the game and the final 4-2. Well done guys and girls, "we are the champions my friends, cos we kept fighting till the end" Reported by Kushla Proffitt
