With both teams only having nine players this game was very even in strength. The Aardwolfs placed fourth at the end of the session were confident they could give the Rough Necks a run for their money. With the Rough Necks scoring in the first few minutes, the game was on. The Aardwolfs defended well upsetting the Rough Necks who got a few more penalties then they would have liked. Then in period two they score again and got 2-0 up into the third, the Aardwolfs having plenty of shots on but not able to find the net. The Rough Necks score two more quick goals and thought they had the Aardwolfs done but they were wrong. The Aardwolfs came back hard and finally got the back of the net to score two goals of their own. But it was not enough and as the Rough Necks score one more they take the win 5-2. Unlucky Aardwolfs it could have been anyone's game, good luck in the play off for third and forth next week. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

The Dragons came out fast, setting the pace for
the game. They scored three quick goals in the first period to go into the
second 3-0 up. The second period had the same pace to it with the Dragons
scoring again increasing their lead 4-0. The pressure was on the Aardwolfs
to get on the score board and they did but not before the Dragons went on a
checking frenzy and not being happy about being called for it, one got a
game penalty for his actions, and I thought this was a non-checking
competition. The refs continued to call penalties in an attempt to cool the
game down. The Aardwolfs got caught up in it too with Matt getting 10
minutes and was gone for the game. The Dragons get one more and the game was
over. The Aardwolfs played well and made the semi-finals, lets hope it's a

The Rough Necks first to score were quickly answered by the Aardwolfs and the game was on. The Aardwolfs score again and take the lead, but only for a few minutes as the Roughnecks tie up the score and then go on to get four more goals expending their lead 6-2 going into the second. The Roughnecks continued their scoring streak and take their lead up to 10-2 going into the third. The Aardwolfs came back strong and fought hard find the back of the net with a total of 30 shots on for the game. They scored only one more to the Roughnecks four, giving them the win 14-3. The Aardwolfs take the lead again with a magic goal from Brent, but once again the Rats responded with another goal to go 2-2 even into the second. The Rats stepped up the pace and score four goals that the Aardwolfs could not answer. But the third period saw the Aardwolfs come back and score in the first few minutes, the Rats continued their attack with three more goals. Wow! What a game. The Aardwolfs came out strong and with a good turnout in numbers for a change which always makes a difference. With lots of shots on (a total of 51 for the game), the Aardwolfs poured on the pressure. The Dragons determined not to let the Aardwolfs through only ended up in the box which allowed the Aardwolfs more room to move. And move they did with some awesome passing and great plays. The intensity increased in the second period as the Dragons are first to score. The Aardwolfs find the back of the net in the third and score two goal but the Dragons get two more and although the Aardwolfs never gave up, the Dragons kept their lead and win 4-2. The Aardwolfs win this game by default because the Rangers did not have enough players from their team list. The Aardwolfs were lucky and only just made the required number of players themselves. Thank you to the few ring-ins we had to help make up the numbers, you know who you are. Also a big welcome back to Bruce who played tonight half a game with Dave as goalie after recovering from injury, great to see ya. So all and all this was a fun game and everyone enjoyed themselves, its strange what happens when you take the pressure off. The Aardwolfs came out on top with the points and the win, well done guys and girls. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

We would like to officially welcome Robyn and Brent to the team. Brent who has come to us from Canada and is already proving useful and Robin who promises to be a sound Defence player. For the first game of the season the Prem Aardwolfs took to the ice missing a couple of regular players, (get well soon Nathan). Thanks to Mark from Aardwolfs Thunder for filling in. The first period started with a lot of pressure on goalie Dave who stopped 9 out of 12 shots, where the Aardwolfs only managed to answer scoring one from Nick and Tim out of 11 shots on. However with a couple of posts and some great passing the potential is there for improved performance in the future. The Roughnecks put on the pressure in the Second scoring 4 from 21 shots and the Aardwolfs answered with none from 7. The Roughnecks finished the third with a total of 10 goals out of 43 shots for the game. Matt scoring from Adams pass to put the Aardwolfs second on the board with 3 min’s to go in the last period. Lack of fitness and finishing were the Aardwolfs failings, though with their total shot count at 32 shows promise let’s look forward and see an improvement next week, remember you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take! The Dragons didn't even see it coming. The second goal came soon after with Cameron on a breakaway. Then the awesome passing from the defence to Tom saw goal number three and the period ending 3-0 to the Aardwolfs. The second period saw the Dragons make the score board and in was all on. The intensity increased as bit teams fought hard to gain possession only to get penalties. The third period saw the Aardwolfs pour on the pressure and the shot count (44 in total for the game) With a breakaway from Dave and then a second goal minutes later meant that he was making the most of his last game before going home for Christmas. Wow!!! What a game, the Aardwolfs came out strong from the start. With the Rangers being beaten 16-2 by the River
Rats
the week before, they were hoping for a come back this week. Unfortunately
for them, the Aardwolfs had been working towards a win for a few weeks and
tonight was their night. With two quick goals early on for the Aardwolfs, it
was going to be a tough night for the Rangers, who could only manage
tripping penalties. Another goal just as the first period ends to Nathan on a
breakaway, saw the Aardwolfs go 3-0 into the second. The game was fast and
furious with the Rangers getting frustrated, the Aardwolfs making some
beautiful passes and controlling the middle ice, the Rangers just could not
get through. Four more goals saw the Aardwolfs strengthen their lead, then
as the second period came to an end the Rangers got to keep their pants on
by scoring their only goal of the game. With the Rangers now on the score board, the intensity increased ten fold as their fought for another goal. But it was the Aardwolfs who were next to score and kept the Rangers out for the rest of the game. The Aardwolfs take their second win 8-1. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

Another fast game was had tonight with the Rough Necks first
to score in the first minute. The Aardwolfs on the back foot, pour on the
defence to shut the Rough necks out for the remainder of the period scoring
the equalizer in the dieing seconds. The intensity increased as the game
bore on with plenty of penalties handed out to the Rough Necks and some
pretty sore Aardwolfs an all. The Rough Necks score two more to go 3-1 into
the third. The fight was on as both teams fought to score, the Rough Necks
stepping up the pace and the Aardwolfs pour on the pressure with lots of
shots on (36 in total the game). The Aardwolfs go short-handed after an
interference call to score their second goal. Although the Rough Necks take the win 6-2, the Aardwolfs never gave up and made them work hard for it. Well done guys, better luck next week. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

The River Rats are always a rough team to play and this week was no
exception. As usual they came out with attitude and scored the first two
goals. The Aardwolfs defended well and scored a goal of their own in the
last few seconds of the first period going 2-1 down into the next. The Rats
came out hungry and scored three more goals in quick succession, mostly from
a slap shot off the point. The Aardwolfs fought hard shutting the Rats out
in front of the net and also out-passing them. They scored another goal with
this awesome passing but the Rats continued to shut them down and out skated
them, taking them into the second period in the lead 5-2. The last period was full on an very aggressive, with both teams getting roughing penalties. The Rats score again and poured on the pressure but the Aardwolfs played some catch up hockey and scored again. The Rats looking concerned, tried to stop by playing dirty, but the Aardwolfs score again in the last few seconds and although they didn't win, they were happy with the outcome. | With a stacked team of players, ring-in's and causal players, the Aardwolfs cam out fighting against the top team of the Premier Grade the Dragons. It was never going to be an easy task and the Dragons made them work hard. But although the Dragons score first, the Aardwolfs wasted no time in evening the score as Nick strikes again. The fight was on, but the Dragons off goal number two go to 2-1 ahead into the second. The Aardwolfs evened the score early as Matt received a great pass from Andy back in defence making it 2-2. But the Dragons weren't having that and soon were back in the lead with another goal, 3-2. The Aardwolfs were on fire as great passing once again shone through, scoring two more goals going into the third 5-3.The Dragons tried to play catch up and score their forth goal early on but the Aardwolfs game back to score one more to beat the top team 6-4. In a game that could have been anyone's right from the start, the Aardwolfs
had a bigger turnout this week and came out fighting. A BIG thanks to Andrew
who played up from A-Grade and also to the two ring-ins (you know who you
are).
With the Rangers first to score, the Aardwolfs were just as quick to answer
with a goal of their own. Adam and Nick worked together to even the score.
With the game being really physical, there were plenty of penalties to be
had, three of them in just the first period., it was going to be a tough
game. The Aardwolfs broke the tie with Matt and his lucky stick, only to
have the Rangers score again minutes later to even the score 2-2 going into
the second. The intensity mounted as the Rangers score again early on, but the Aardwolfs soon came back to tie up the score again, in a game that was goal for goal. The pressure poured on as both teams gained penalties. Then the Aardwolfs take the lead with the great team work and passing of Clive and Matt, Adam putting it in. But the Rangers answered quickly once again to even the score to 4-4 going into the third. The Rangers take the lead early on once again, then increased their lead with a sixth goal. In a game that could have been anyone's, the Aardwolfs could only answer one of them, ending the game 6-5 to the Rangers. Great game guys, awesome to watch. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

With the Premier team short of players again this week and the goalie out
due to injury, the Aardwolfs called upon their fellow Conrad's from
other teams for a game. Three players jumped at the chance and we thank them
(you know who you are). The game started strong with the Aardwolfs
first to score, Matt receives an awesome pass from Nick and makes it count.
Then on a break away, Matt makes it two increasing the Aardwolfs lead 2-0,
The Rough Necks only managing penalties in their frustrating start. But then
suddenly they got it together and scored three goals in quick succession to
end the period 3-2. The second period saw the Aardwolfs even the score early
on with some great moves from Nick and Clive who found the back of the net.
The Rough Necks try to re-take the lead with a goal of their own, but it was
not to be, as it was scored by a ring-in and not counted. They didn't make
the mistake twice though as they try again and with this one counting ended
the second period back in front 4-3. The third saw the Aardwolfs even the score with awesome passing up to Nick who shoots and scores. The Rough Necks took control then and scored three more goals and although the Aardwolfs never gave up, they couldn't match them. The game ended 7-4 to the Rough Necks. Reported by Kushla Proffitt |

| With the other Aardwolfs teams all wining their first games for the season, the premier team had the chance to make it a clean sweep, but unfortunately it was not to be. On the night of the game only four players plus the goalie showed up. So with the game fortified and the team made up of Dave White and Keith Payne (from A-Grade) and who ever else we could muster (A BIG thank you to those guys, you know who you are), the Aardwolfs just went out to have some fun. The River Rats came out fighting as normal and scored with seconds, but The Aardwolfs, although a mix-match team, never gave up and soon had the game tied 1-1 all. The Rats answered quickly and re-take the lead 2-1. The Aardwolfs then pulled out all their stops and played defensively for the rest of the game. The Rats could only get two goals through in the second period, the Aardwolfs defence working well, keeping the Rats at only seven shots on for that period. With the score at 4-1 leading into the third period, the Rats poured on the heat and the got a little rough. The Aardwolfs fought hard till the end but the Rats, after lots of shots on, (37 in total for the game) scored four more goals to take the game 8-1. Better luck next time Aardwolfs. The last game for Aardwolfs Prem and as usual they set the
pace. The Aardwolfs played Boyd, causal player, and Jeremy from A-Grade. The
White Dragons score first and keep the lead 1-0 going into the second. They
increase their lead early on in the second but then the Aardwolfs fought
back as Adam and Nick finally find the back of the net after some awesome
passing. Goal number two came quickly after as Adam goes it again, and
number three as Boyd makes a bullet shot, taking the lead 3-2. The
Dragons play catch up and score the equalizer to go into the third 3-3 . The Dragons re-take the lead early on but then score an own goal giving the Aardwolfs the equalizer. But it was all over then as the White Dragons took control and score two more goals to win the game 6-4. Better luck next season boys, the magic is there, just got to finish better.
