Aardwolfs 3

Dragons 4

Another round with the Dragons and the Aardwolfs were looking for a win having lost the last few games. But the Dragons played their usual challenging game scoring early on and putting the Aardwolfs on the back foot. The Aardwolf were having none of that and score soon after with the team work of Hamish and Tim to tie up the game 1-1. Another goal from the Aardwolfs with Hamish once again but this time with Craig making it 2-1 going into the second. The Dragons came back strong and the game was on with both teams determined. The Dragons finally managing to get to the net score to tie up the game. But then with a lucky shot, score again to take the lead 3-2. The third saw both teams turn on the defence and neither could get through. Some interesting calls from the ref's did not help the atmosphere of the game. Kushla got called for high-sticking after being tripped and having her stick get the Dragons player on the way down and no tripping being called, not to mention the tripping calls on the Aardwolfs were the Dragons seemed to be in the wrong. But we have to play the whistle so we play on. The Aardwolfs tie the game up again midway through with Hamish getting an awesome pass from John back in 'D'. The Dragons soon answer with one of their own and re-take the lead 4-3. The Aardwolfs did all they could to get one back but to no avail, the Dragons wining 4-3 and taking the lead on the table by one point. All we can do now is hope to win next week then see what happens. Lets show them what we are made of team!!! Go get em!!               Reported by Kushla Proffitt

Rangers 2

The Game started out well. But when the score board was not going up the game got a little rough.
The Ranger got one up on us early in the first. But soon after we got the goal  back with a great play from Nick to Matt who puts it in the net. This makes it One all at the end of the first. The penalties kept going up, great to see the Refs calling it all.. But the passing from both teams made it a fast game and great to watch. A sneaky goal in the second from the Rangers did not help the Aardwolfs, making it 2-1 to Rangers end of second. With some of the team out late the bin got a few looks by team members. Some nice teaming up by Nick and Matt score another goal for the Aardwolfs early in the third. Later some passing around in the attacking zone and a run to the net by Tim, placing the puck top corner to get another, finally putting the Aardwolfs ahead 4-3. Great shooting by Phil from the point kept the Rangers on the back foot. With some great hockey played, Nick and Blake got a two on one, but alas the goalie stopped it. Seconds later the pass came back to Blake for another shot, and bugger it did not go in the net either. With the last minutes of the game Nick placed the puck into the top right hand corner to make it 4- 2 to the Aardwolfs.
Well Done Aardwolfs Fire Team.

White Dragons 5

In a game marred by 50 minutes of penalties, spread evenly between the two teams, the Dragons came out strongly, out-shooting the Aardwolfs 21-10 in the first period,3 goals to the Dragons, one (from James) to the Wolfs. The Second period was the Wolfs as Jespa and Ross both assisted by Adam score, and with Vince doing some great work in goal ending the second even at 3-3.
The third was fast and furious and the play seesawed backwards and forwards, the Wolfs held out until the middle of the period allowing, Blake and Ian to slip one through for the Dragons. The Dragons managing one more with five minutes to go, take the win 5-3. Ian Findlay getting 3 goals and 2 assists for the Dragons, doing a large portion of the damage. Having said that, a reasonable performance from Aardwolfs Ice and another incremental improvement.                                                              Reported by Clive Murphie

Rangers 3

In an important game to confirm their forth place in the semis, the Aardwolfs came out hard. They played well as a team with lots of shots on from the start. Andrew was first to score with Brendan and Glen, back from injury, both getting the assist. The Rangers struggled to keep up, then Andrew gets number two with a little help from Daniel to go 2-0 up into the second. The Rangers fought back with a goal of their own but the Aardwolfs make it three as the passing connected  to find the net. The Rangers come back again with one more, but Daniel helps Andrew get his hat trick with another amazing pass, increasing their lead 4-2 into the third. The Rangers close the gaps and hold the Aardwolfs back, scoring a goal on the way. But although the Aardwolfs were unable to score again, it was too little too late for the Rangers. The Aardwolfs take the win 4-3 and confirm their forth place for semi's.                                                     Reported by Kushla Proffitt

 Silver Dragons 3

In a hard fought match, one of the best I have seen for A Grade, the Dragons and the Aardwolfs duelled it out to a nil all first period, the Wolfs having the best share of the action. Martin started the second period well by putting one in for the Aardwolfs, and five minutes later the Dragons equalised, it stayed this way with the tension building well into the third. After much pressure the Dragons put in their second with five minutes to go. With two minutes to go and the play deep in the Dragons end, the Aardwolfs pulled Scotty the Goalie putting the sixth man on. However they were unable to find the net and the Dragons get a breakaway with six seconds on the clock to find the net on the full time whistle. Final score 3-1 to the Silver Dragons. A good game to watch, reflective of the even level of competition between the teams in this grade, the finals could be anybodies on the night!!!!                                                                           Reported by Clive Murphie
