Rangers 2

With a win last week, the Aardwolfs were keen to make it two in a row. The Rangers however, on a roll of their own had other ideas. It was the Aardwolfs who controlled the game from the start, scoring early after some awesome passing. They poured the pressure on with lots of shots on in the first two periods and the passing improved throughout the game. But in the third period the shoe was on the other foot, as the Rangers score to tie up the game 1-1. The game was on with the Rangers throwing everything at the Aardwolfs in attempt to prevent them from scoring and taking the win. Unfortunatley for them their only ended up in the penalty box. The Aardwolfs continued the shots on but just could not find the back of the net. The Rangers did with a lucky bounce and took the win 2-1. With all teams close in scores, the semis and finals are looking to be anybody's, just as it should be.                                       Reported by Kushla Proffitt

 Silver Dragons 2

With the early game for the night, players rushing in from work to get ready did not leave much room for thinking about the game and the tactics on the ice to win the game. Some great shooing from Matt from the Blue line kept the pressure on in the first period. But the lack of chatter from the Wolfs did not help the played we made and it came up short often. The Silver Dragons scored midway through the first period. bugger it, holding them off and keeping the shots on by both teams made it a fast game. Dame it.
They scored early in the second period with a lucky goal. We found that the teams forwards and the defence had a big gap between them on the ice making it hard to pass around or keep it in the attacking zone.
The shots keeping coming and Brendan kept up the great work and we kept the shots on too, but alas they could not find the back of the net. With frustration setting in by both teams, the penalties started to come to the game. In the third period the talking almost stopped. Chris received a cross checking call with all the confusion in front of the net, but speaking up about it did not help the matter receiving a ten minute misconduct and then a game. Luckily with twelve 12 minutes left in the game, he will not miss the next game on Thursday night at 8.15pm. Short handed for the rest of the game with three defence, a short turn about with a lot of talking in the middle, the Aardwolfs finally score. With some great passing from Tim to Brad, and then to Nathan who puts it in the back of the net. A good finish to the game for the Aardwolfs but not the result we wanted.                                                                                    Reported by Glen Cameron

 River Rats 6

This week in a more even competition Aardwolfs Ice, who were boosted by the return of Scott, went two up in the first period, Jasper assisted by Adam and Noah: and then Ross getting his first Premier Grade goal. The second was a different story with the Rats getting their act together and putting in 4 goals Jordan doing most of the damage. The third period was a sea saw with Ross getting his second assisted by Clive and Aaron, the Rats finishing strongly putting in another 2. Final score 6-3 to the Rats but this week a significant improvement for Aardwolfs Ice.                                                                 Reported by Clive Murphie

White Dragons 3

After a good win last week Thunder was looking for another, but this was never going to be easy against the top team. The Aardwolfs playing a few ringins and a returning player Andy, score first as the team just seemed to gel this week. The passing was amazing and all seemed to read each other well. But the Dragons answer with two of their own to go 2-1 up into the second. This fired the Aardwolfs up who went on a shooting spree, after a great pass from Daryl, Phil scores to tie the game up 2-2. Then with the Dragons unable to answer, the Aardwolfs score again with Chris on his own to take the lead. Shortly after the duo of Phil and Daryl worked their magic again to score and take the Aardwolfs to a 4-2 lead into the third. The Aardwolfs continued to control the game and score again with Nathan, Ricky and Ross all working together. The Dragons struggling to even get to the net, managed only one more goal in the dieing minutes of the game but it was the Aardwolfs who scored the last goal of the game, putting the nail in the coffin. Well done team, what an awesome game, it was all about team work.                                  Reported by Kushla Proffitt
