Games Report B Grand Final

Score:

Aardwolfs 3

Rangers 2

The first season in a long time that the Rangers have made it to the Grand Final and the game was all on. The Aardwolfs having made it last season but lost to the Dragons, were keen to not make the same mistake and the Rangers keen to win for the first time in a long time. It was a frustrating start with both teams shutting each other down in the neutral zone, leaving the first period scoreless. The Aardwolfs took control of the game in the second with Karyn scoring a breakaway. Then Big Al makes it two and the Aardwolfs were on a roll. Number three came from Hamish and the Aardwolfs go 3-0 into the third. The Rangers came back with two goals of their own, and with the Aardwolfs unable to answer it was very intense. Both teams were going for it, the Aardwolfs poured on the shots but just could not seem to finish and the with the need to keep the Rangers out great, the Aardwolfs turned to a defensive game. The Aardwolfs held the Rangers off for 15 minutes to take the win 3-2.

White Dragons 3

We had a hard task ahead of us tonight. We needed to get six goals above the White Dragons to win the Premier competition. Due to other teams in the competition getting over run by goals.
It did not help in the first minute of the game with a laps by us, the Dragons scored. With great passing and talking we poured the shots on thick, but could not score. Then finally in the middle of the second we made the back of the net ( Nick sweet as goal), but by then it was still the Dragons game 2 - 1.
The game picked up some speed and the shots coming from every where, Brendan made some great saves. We finally score again to tie the game up at 2 - 2. Great work Nick with the assist from Phil and Nathan.
But late in the third we lapsed again and they score making the game a 3 - 2 and the win to the White Dragons. Bugger it. This was the last game for the SNC year for the Premier Fire team.
Well done all and great to watch you play. Hope to see you all next season .      Reported by Glen Cameron.

Silver Dragons 5

In the first period the Dragons came out strongly putting an amazing 21 shots on Vince in Goal for the Aardwolfs. Vince having a good game, stopped all of them but three.Try as they could the Aardwolfs pairing of Jespa and Janos could not break the drought, ending the first 3-0 to the Dragons.
With some soul searching, the Aardwolfs put on some pressure in the second, Jespa scoring assisted by Adam. The Dragons answered with one of their own, managing a second just before the end. The shot count coming out even at nine apiece, Janos was having one of those games hitting the bar several times and a total of eight for the game. End of the Second period 5-1 to the Dragons. The third was the Aardwolfs, scoring one from Janos unassisted and out shooting the Dragons 12-10.However just shooting is not enough and the Silvers came out the winner on the day 5-2. With the close ranking of the teams this season it bodes well for next season.                                                                                                    Reported by Clive Murphie

Games Report A Thunder Final

Score:

Thunder 4

Lightning 11

With both Aardwolfs teams lucking out of their semi-final, it came down the a play-off for third and forth. This is always a tough game between these two teams and this game was no exception. With their regular goalie still out, Pete played in the net again for Thunder doing the best he could. Lightning wearing blue this game, were on their game scoring six goals early on, but Thunder fought back with lots of shots on, 17 for the period, to only score twice, breakaways both of them. Lightning leading 6-2  going into the second. Lightning increase their lead with two more but Thunder poured on the pressure and the shots from Ricky with one man in the box. The third period saw Thunder continue to fight for the puck and Lightning continue to score. In the end Lightning take the win 11-4 but Thunder never gave up till the end, making Lightning work for it. This season comes to an end with questions about goalies and the hope of some resolutions in the new season to come. Well done everyone.                                                                           Reported by Kushla Proffitt
