Games Report A Thunder

Score:

Thunder 2

 Lightning 7

As with all Aardwolfs/Aardwolfs games there was much discussion before the game on which was the stronger side, and who should wear the Blue shirts, Thunder wore Blue last time the two teams met, so it was Lightning’s turn this time. Having done the addition on individual grades, Lightning comes out the strongest with 71.1 to Thunders 67.8 a marginal difference, Thunder has 4 Prem /A grade players to Lightning’s 2. So it was always going to be a tight game…..
It  was also the welcome return of two Aardwolfs: Andy, down from Nelson for the weekend (Lightning) and Brendan (Thunder), back to playing, after a two year break, good to see you both, Lightning had also called up the services of Joern form the B grade Team.
Aardwolfs Thunder opened the scoring with a beautiful wrist shot by Glen, Lightning answered with 3 quick goals by Ross Gareth and Martin, assisted by Andy, Aaron and Joern. Ted put one in from the point assisted by Karyn, to bring the score to 3-2 to lightning at the end of period 1. From then on with exceptional passing it was Lightings game all the way, the Shot count at 31 – 20 which says it all, with Gareth getting a hat trick of goals and Gerard getting his first assist of the season.
With Final the score 7-2 to Aardwolfs Lightning and seven of the Lightning players getting their name on the score sheet it goes to show it was a good team game.                                        Reported by Clive Murphie

 Dragons 4

Always a challenging game against the Dragons, this one was no exception. With the Dragons loosing a few players to A-Grade, they had a new team and were eager to retain their top placing from last season.
With the first period seeing no goals from either team, it was all on in the second. The Dragons score two goals early on, leaving the Aardwolfs playing catch-up, only managing to score once. The third period saw the Aardwolfs even the score only to have the Dragons re-take the lead soon after and win the game 4-2.
But although they lost, the Aardwolfs were happy with the game, a great improvement on last week.

 Dragons 1

Prem, a fast played game, with us scoring first giving the Dragons something to think about. Our two brother lines and the two wiz kids sure do give us some handy things to work with.
As Nat had to leave early, she asked that I Finish this report for her. What a game, lots of magic passing and everything just seemed to click for the Aardwolfs with 40 shots on. They controlled the game and took every chance to make the play. This was probably the best game I have seen the Premier Aardwolfs play in a long time, well done guys, great win.                                        Reported by 'Nat the Manager and Kushla Proffitt
