Well now. This game most certainly did not go to plan. In fact all plans went out the window.
But in the first Brad managed to get us into the game with great pass from Nik and Daryl to put the first goal up in the game the Aardwolfs. And with another great goal from Phil with the assist from Ricky, tying the score 2-2 at the end of the first period.
The Aardwolfs started the second off well with another goal to Brad from the great passing of Greg and Zac.  But that was the end of it for them, letting a lot of goals in making the game end on a bad note, but we all have those games. Well done to Brendan who’s family (I think) were there watching the game, we all know the pressure of being watched while playing.                          Reported by Glen Cameron - Manager

Thunder 6

Lightning 2

A BIG welcome to Lance Archbold, great to have you here. When the Aardwolf's clash. it's always a tough game. Being the first game for this season against each another, the managers tossed a coin to see who would wear the ill-fated blue shirts. Thunder lost that toss and stepped on the ice in blue, determined not to let it get them down. Both teams were a little light in numbers with it being a long weekend, so we called in a few extra's and the game was on. Thunder score first, getting their passing sorted early on and a second goal saw them take the lead into the next period, Lightning unable to find the back of the net.
The shots on were even in the second but it was Thunder who score again with Lance proving himself and getting his first, increasing their lead to 3-0 going into the third. Thunder continued to control the puck scoring two more and looked set for another win when Lightning finally made it to the score board, thanks to their causal player. With Lightning on a come back, he made it two, giving Thunder something to think about. Unfortunately for them, it was all a little too late and Thunder took the win 6-2 on the score board. They may have won by default with news days after the game, that their 'casual' may in fact be a ring-in and unable to score. "Watch this space"

Rangers 1

Round two and the Aardwolfs were on a roll, with three wins under their belt, they went out to make it four. In what was to be a very messy game, the Rangers are first to score. Although the Aardwolfs tied the game up 1-1 going into the second, neither team saw much of the net, both losing the puck in the neutral zone. The continued like this with neither team giving in, then finally a second goal was  the Aardwolfs take the lead. Period three saw the game get rough with the Rangers determined to make a come back. And when it looked like they would tie up the game with a breakaway, Craig Balfour pulled out a sliding shot block and the puck never saw the net. This gained him a strong contender for "Save of the Season" or at least an honourable mention at the Aardwolfs Price-Giving. The Aardwolfs went on to score again and take the win 3-1, but to honest, I think there were a lot more shots on than was recorded, 6 shots for Aardwolfs and 8 for Rangers for the whole game?? You do the math....                  Reported by Kushla Proffitt - Manager
