First Opening in 1952 (1948?)and closing in September
1984. it was eventually demolished in March 1985. It is now Torville
and Dean Lane. First owned by Mr A F W Jones and the brothers Mr
Frank and Mr George Kirkpatrick (Ice Rinks Chch Ltd) In1953 on the
5th July the rink
was badly damaged by a fire. In 1978 Mr Jaap de Haan became the owner /operator through to closing in 1984.The Centaurus Ice Skating Club was was formed in 1953 |
