Hey Aardwolfs, Thought I would give you guys an update of what I have been up 2 for the past 5 months. Sorry it's been so long since my last update, my plan was to write when I started playing hockey in Toronto, but since I arrived in January I have hardly played any hockey. I participated in the Commonwealth tour in January playing goalie, |

although this year it was 90% Australians :( where were all the Kiwis? I also helped out by refereeing the Scottish Women's team who were staying with the Moose. I get the feeling it would have been best to arrive here before the winter season started, as arriving halfway through it is very hard to get on a team. Pickup hockey seems the only way to play. But you need to have transport to get to the arena, one thing I have had problems with. Now the summer season is here only the major rinks only have hockey. I have recently moved to one of the Cities in the Greater Toronto Area called Brampton. Here I have a job repairing iPod's, it's a small company that is just opening up. So there is a lot of setting up to do. Its my Birthday tomorrow, so I'm having a BBQ Party on Saturday. I'm slowly making a few friends here. It's really different from the huge circle of friends I had back in Christchurch. I miss everyone so much (wish I could bring you all over here with me). Bye for Now Scotty |

Hey Aardwolfs I have written up a bit of a report for my first week in Vancouver I have decided to stay here in Vancouver until January so I can spend Christmas with DJ, which will be good. And I think we are all going up to a cabin in the hills for new years :-)Only thing is, I haven't been able to play any hockey yet. And when I do get to it will most likely be pickup hockey. Not in a League team. They don't have a rent a goalie program here. So the only way I will be able to make some money will be refereeing, I will get paid $30 or $40 CAD per game. I haven't done any games yet, but I am looking forward to it. There are so many variations in the rules over here, like they still use Gross Misconducts. The Reffs aren't as strict on players abusing them here. Skill level of hockey here varies from what our B grade is, up to NHL level in the ASHL League (non-checking league I will be playing in). The steps between each division are much smaller compared to NZ the are 18 divisions. Div 7 about Prem SNC level in NZ. The ice is so much better here though. One thing I can't get over is that adults don't play contact hockey here. It is all non-checking once you get past Junior hockey. Unless you are good enough to play in the minor leagues or NHL!!! I might write another report again in a few weeks, or when I get to Toronto. How have the Aardwolfs been going since I left. Cheers Scotty |
