We RECOMMEND always having a means of retrieving people who may fall through the ice.

Has potential, Chris and Ron had a skate but it was very marginal.

Skated on Stavely Ice Rink which is open, pavlova on the upper rink but the lower rink is OK. Possible night skate at Stavely Ice Rink tomorrow night, though temperatures are warm up here today.

Lots of Ice up here today we skated on Clearwater, Emma and several surrounding Lakes, the Ice is all softening and we need a good frost tonight to firm things up.

Lots of Ice apart from a few spring holes. Used the rescue gear today as a friend fell through, had to use the rope as he dropped his hockey stick when he fell in.

Ice covered in snow - 15 cm of ice, skateable - but slow (a good workout!). Great fun in perfect weather - perfect for NZ's highest scratch hockey game (Dunedin crew).Track very muddy as day warms.

Good ice on shady side - down to about 40mm 3/4 way across. Skated the length of the dam.

thick ice in main area.(13cm Thanks Dave Richards/Ryan Hellyer). Rough in places from curling but an ok skate. Holding well (so far) as temp increases during the day.

Good ice in centre basin. Debris at edge but good skating further out. Ice thickening in other areas as frosts continue. Morning skate is best.

Plenty of Ice at Idaburn, Main are has light snow cover but the surface is OK for skating on, just a bit rough. The Roads are frosty if travelling early.

The Weather reports were right, 19 people enjoyed another great skate at Lake Evelyn tonight.!!!!!  About half the lake is frozen with 90-100mm black ice. it will last well if there is no snow.
